本作は、事件の裏側にある人間の本質を追求するためフリーになった元新聞記者のジャーナリスト・木部美智子が、未解決誘拐事件を追い続ける中で、次第に小説の盗作騒動に巻き込まれいくさまを描くミステリー。ある日、大御所作家・本郷素子に盗作疑惑が持ち上がり、美智子は取材を依頼される。ゴシップに興味がない彼女は断るも、真相を追っていた同僚が謎の死を遂げることに。そして、単なるゴシップと思われていた噂が、やがて出版業界を揺るがす大事件へと発展していく。。A group of 10 disparate people, strangers to each other, have all traveled to Africa believing they have won a fabulous vacation safari.
