四川姑娘米香抚养着一个先天痴傻的九岁儿子，丈夫嫌弃儿子残疾抛弃他们。为了傻儿子的将来，米香决定到北方煤矿村里‘嫁死’，等丈夫出事死了就可以得到一笔巨额赔款。她选中一个又丑又驼背叫王驼子的中年矿工，可谁知煤矿老是不出事，米香焦灼不安，于是把沾了经血的卫生巾埋到矿上咒他。没想到矿上真的出事了，但米香也心碎了。。Set in the 1950s in the fictional village of Kembleford, the series follows Roman Catholic priest Father Brown who has a knack for solving crimes.
