卢沟桥事变，国共第二次合作，两兄弟携手莱城抗敌，外御其辱，最终寡不敌众被抓进战俘营。在战俘营里两兄弟团结国共两派人士，努力将死境转化为生的希望。越狱成功，弟弟李振昌失忆替代哥哥李振武成为国民党的军官，这一次的转换让两兄弟都痛苦不已。两兄弟都在两难当中，可命运还是让两人相遇，在一次任务当中，李振昌为救哥哥李振武牺牲。李振武最终认识到国民党的腐败无能，走上弟弟的道路，以完成他的理想和使命。。The film opens with a narrated disclaimer over footage of an opening coffin.
